Structured wiring is most commonly and most easily installed at the construction stage. Retro fitting existing structures can be more time consuming and expensive. Additionally the methods used in the original construction may have created an extremely difficult scenario for installing structured wiring. There exist, however, other technologies which can accomplish the goals met by structured wiring packages.
